Mealtime Makeover and Hula Hooping for an Ab Workout

First, some photos from the swap meet!

Since I was without my Bodybugg today, I needed to get some exercise in! Ended up going to the Kam Swap Meet, which is located at a defunct drive-in movie theatre. Bought some Crocs heeled sandals for $25 (I usually pay $49 for the same pair at Ala Moana), razor refills (cheaper than Walmart!) and veggies. I was going to buy some dragonfruit at $3.50/lb., but I noticed that one of the fruits had something boring holes in it...and it wasn't a noodle. :o

They now have vendors that grill huli-huli chicken and steaks! One stand let us try a sample of guava chicken. It was yummy, so we bought a plate and brought it home. I needed to do a meal makeover though...it included 2 scoops of rice and a mac salad! I quickly made some quinoa and added a broccoli salad, and voila! I had lunch!:

After lunch, I rested a bit and watched Crimson Tide (Denzel Washington and Gene Hackman) and part of The Hunt for Red October (Sean Connery, Alec Baldwin). I realize now that both of these movies are set on submarines. I like these military movies (maybe because I was a military brat...errr good girl! hahaha)!

I tried to take a nap (I think I succeeded for an hour or two) but then Mom kept bugging me to make sure the DVD recorder/VHS player we bought at the swap meet actually worked (it did, good deal for $40). Then, I finally setup the thing I bought last Wednesday:

Wiiiiiiiiiiiiii!!! I bought a Wii Fit! It is a scale/step/yoga platform device that enables the user to follow and interact with various exercises on the Nintendo Wii system. The disc it comes with has yoga, strength training, aerobics and balance exercises. I think I might pick up more games next payday.

One game I particularly enjoyed was the hula hooping! I did get a nice midsection workout just from that! I had a little trouble w/ the strength training because my core is weak, but I'll try to play every day. Just need to kick the folks out of the living room for a bit, as they tend to hog the TV in the evenings watching The Filipino Channel. :P

Me on TV using the Wii

Tomorrow former-hurricane Felicia will land in Hawaii! I dunno, but the weather these past two days has been super sunny and hot, so if a storm is coming, then this must be the calm before it!
