Day 3 - Round and Round and Round I Go

Tuesday! Since Tuesdays and Thursdays are dialysis days for Mom, I decided that I needed to get my exercise in somehow before heading down to help her. I went up the dreaded Back Stairs. I never did like these stairs (back entrance of the office, leading to the kitchen/lounge area). I dread going down and up (and I rarely ever go up them). I think it's because: 1) I smashed my shoulder once with that stupid pipe on the right side of the stairs) and 2) I fear that I'm going to drop my iPhone down the bottomless grey (well it's not black, it's grey dustbunnies :) pit of the Back Stairs. So I hung onto my iPhone tightly, made sure to avoid the pipe, and walked up! Somehow with the light shining down it seems like the stairway to heaven, but believe me these stairs are pure hell:

My boss said that walking 20 times around the inside perimeter of the office equals a mile. So, before I ate lunch, I put my sneakers on, headphones on and went walking. Round and round I went. Each time I made a "lap", I'd stop at the white board near my desk and make a tick mark. It got really hot after awhile, so I actually needed to grab my water bottle. :P I listened to the Dave Ramsey podcast for 15 laps (if I win, I better know how to use the money wisely, right?) then for the last 5 laps I listened to Michael Jackson's "Thriller" and some hip-hop song I forgot. How nice it was to finish those 20 laps! However, by the time I went to eat my lunch, I was too tired to finish the entire corn on the cob:

20 tick marks = 1 mile

I usually end up waiting 15-20 minutes for the bus headed to the mall. Instead, I decided to walk all the way downtown to catch the same bus. I figure, might as well get some exercise instead of standing at the hot, dusty bus stop. To do that, I need to walk down Iwilei Road, which is the same road I walk to work in the mornings. I've always had a phobia of walking down this street in the afternoon (I was nearly attacked by some crazy guitar-wielding nutcase at the bus stop on my 2nd day of work), however, I am armed with my pepper spray and a "don't F* with me or else" face, and nobody has bothered me since:

Here are some random shots of my walk through Chinatown/Downtown. I just noticed that the red brick building is 100 years old!

Almost at the bus stop, another block to go

It swear it took longer to walk around the office than it does to actually walk the same distance outside. Then again, it could be because I was dizzy from going round and round. :s

Hopefully T/Th/Sat will be bearable. Since I am forced to go to the mall on these days, there are a lot of what I now realize are "temptations" around every corner. The first thing I see when I walk in the mall is this:

Then, after choosing the stairs instead of the escalator,

I am greeted with this:

and this!
I notice that the candy stand now has that stupid bacon chocolate bar in-stock. I wanted to try it before the start of the contest BUT they ran out. Must have been a sign... sign that I SHOULDN'T HAVE ANY! :)
